Ballasted roofing of a private house in Codru city

A ballasted roof made of PVC membrane was installed on this project.

A vapor barrier film was laid over the concrete base. The thermal insulation was made from extruded polystyrene boards. The slope-forming layer is composed of cementoplast, over which dry screed was applied. The PVC membrane was laid on a protective layer of geotextile.
Since ballast is provided over the waterproofing layer, mechanical fixing of the PVC membrane to the base was not necessary.

Using ballast on the roof not only provides additional protection for the PVC membrane against mechanical damage and UV exposure, but also ensures the necessary fire resistance level for installing solar panels on the roof surface.

The use of modern ballasted roofs with PVC membranes in Moldova is a reliable, durable, and energy-efficient solution for buildings of any type. These roofs do not require mechanical fixing of the membrane, and the ballast provides additional protection for the waterproofing layer.
